Small mill stone from Tanganyika Plateau. Stones like this one held a spiritual function for groups like the Transvaal Bantu people. The traditional healers poured medicines through them as part of their practice. Beating the ground with the stone also allowed community sorceresses to open a channel of communication with their ancestors.
